Ears

We had a four-month follow up at the ENT on Dec. 7th. He said the right ear looked good and the tube was still in place but the left ear was blocked and he couldn't tell if the tube was still in there. He did a hearing test and she failed with the left ear and couldn't hear out of it. The right ear was fine. He wanted us to put hydrogen peroxide in her ear twice a day for 10 days to try and break up the thick wax. We did this and went back on the 17th and no luck. It would not break up. He said he was going to have to go in there and get all the gunk out and replace the tube if it was still in there. He also said he would replace the right tube while he was doing it since it will probably fall out soon. He also could tell by the way she was breathing that her adenoids might be bothering her and causing some of these issues because there was no congestion in her chest. The earliest we could get in was yesterday (Jan. 3rd).

We woke up early yesterday morning to get Lauren to the surgery center in WDM by 7:00. She did a great job. This was the first time she had to wear a gown. Last time she got tubes she was able to stay in her jammies. I think it was because they were removing her adenoids this time. The procedure was really fast and this time when we went to see her in the recovery room she wasn't screaming. She was just sucking her thumb and could tell she was looking for someone she recognized. We had to sit in the recovery room a little longer this time as well because she had an IV. She was pretty crabby while we were in there and didn't want to drink her juice but the minute we left the room she was happy and ready to go. The rest of the day she acted pretty normal as well. She is one tough cookie!
